- ORGASMS & TRAVELS
It’s Women’s Day, and like many of my fellow female friends, I’m surprised we are still arguing about Women’s Rights and Gender Equality. So I’ve decided to cover a tabu topic (even for Women): Orgasms & Travels.
I still find sex-talk is seen as a tabu in many places. Especially when it comes to self-love, female masturbation. Naturally, when travelling, last thing on our mind are sex toys 😅
However, recently I’ve been hearing more and more about these little “playmates” for women who travel: the Satisfyer Pro Traveller, and the most recent Womanizer Liberty (pictured below). Why are these designed for the travelling women specifically?
Well, firstly, these are not vibrators or dildos, they are suction devices that use air pulse technology. So, not to be inserted anywhere, so much more hygienic and easy to clean and carry around! These two models specifically come with magnetic closing lids, are waterproof and charge through USB. They are super light (Satisfyer weighs 192gr, Womanizer weighs only 90gr). So, I think they were definitely made with the female digital nomads / globetrotters community in mind!
So, I’ve challenged myself to break tabus on this 21st century Women’s Day and talk about this tabu subject to the community. I was recently given a tester Womanizer, and I can safely say I will bring it along on some of my travels for sure. It’s light and discreet, easy to carry around, and as the Womanizer creators say, #OrgasmIsAHumanRight
So, why should globetrotting women be thinking about having orgasms?? Here’s a list of 5 key points of why you should be having orgasms when you travel:
1. Forever Young
An orgasm a day could literally keep the doctor away: a study among middle-aged men found a 50% lower mortality rate among those with high orgasmic frequency compared with the low-orgasm group. And generally, women who regularly have orgasms look better, feel better, and stay healthier.
Also, dehydroepiandrosterone improves muscle strength, bone density, body fat, sexual satisfaction, and overall well-being.
The bad news? This anti-aging hormone declines in your 20s.
The good news? Every orgasm (and every time you get sexually excited, for that matter) helps increase DEA levels.
When we orgasm, increased blood flow to the skin causes blood vessels to open up, giving the face a flushed look. Over time, regular orgasms can help the blood to carry important nutrients to the skin, improving your complexion. Did you know that many anti-ageing supplements contain the hormone DEA? After an orgasm, levels of DEA in your bloodstream soar to five times its normal amount – giving you a youthful boost naturally, and for free.
So, in general, orgasms release anti-inflammatory chemicals that protect your skin by buffering against ageing hormones and environmental toxins, increasing circulation that gives you nourished, vibrant, younger-looking skin.
2. Stress Less
Studies show that less sexually active women have shorter menstrual cycles, potentially indicating low progesterone and estrogen dominance that create weight loss resistance and symptoms like mood swings.
During orgasm, the brain also releases the feel-good hormone serotonin (a key ingredient in the anti-depressant Prozac) and prolactin, which has an overall calming effect on the body. While your climax might be over in a few seconds, the health benefits keep on giving. One study found that stress levels and blood pressure were reduced for up to two weeks following orgasm. What about that, for a happy ending?
3. Pain Killers
Speaking of regular cycles, orgasms can help menstrual cramps. Oxytocin and other endorphins can take away the pain, period. Climaxing was found to lessen headaches in 60 percent of migraine sufferers and one-third of the cluster headache patients. Several studies have shown that orgasms can increase your pain threshold, helping to relieve a variety of ailments, from migraines to rheumatoid arthritis.
4. Strengthens your immune system, naturally
Having sex once or twice a week has been shown to increase the body’s levels of immunoglobulin A, or IgA, an antibody that helps fights infections and the common cold. One study found people who have sex more than once a week have 30 percent higher levels of IgA in their saliva than their less sexually active counterparts.
One meta-analysis of more than 300 studies over 30 years found what you already know: Chronic stress can crash your immune system, meaning the “feel-good hormones” orgasm releases become the perfect way to dial down that stress and boost your immune system. Dialling down stress also means fewer bouts of colds and flu. No more meds whilst travelling?
5. Sleep Well (even in hostels)
When you orgasm your body releases a cocktail of chemicals, including oxytocin (which reduces cortisol levels calming your mind so you can sleep better), as well as norepinephrine, vasopressin (a neuroprotective hormone melatonin), prolactin and serotonin (the happiness and wellbeing hormone. All of these things are clinically proven to improve your sleep quality in one way or another. You’ll totally doze off after a good orgasm!
